What is "Transition"?
It is a process or a period of changing from one state
or condition to another.
This page will provide information for special education seniors that are making the transition from high school to post-secondary options.
1. Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) is the agency that supports the transition process at the high school.
An informational meeting is held at the beginning of each school year to provide information about MRS.
Students are able to sign up for services through an application process.
MRS provides different transition activities such as:
Classroom seminars, Job Shadows, Trip to Macomb Community College, MCTI, and MiWorks
2. Students Transitioning Effectively Post High School (STEP) is a program run by the Macomb Intermediated School District where additional transition services provide support and training for students who are not quite ready for demands of life after high school.
3. Rising Star Academy is a program developed by Chef Mark Prentiss. The focus of Rising Stars Academy is the world of food and concept of "farm to plate". The program includes a community garden and greenhouse, along with a commercial kitchen, and a fully functional restaurant open to the public. Students will be furthering their academic education with CRS Corrective Reading, CRS Corrective Math and college and career readiness classes.
